Falls Church City Public Schools has once again demonstrated exceptional academic performance, leading the Commonwealth of Virginia in overall Standards of Learning (SOL) pass rates for another year. As one of only nine school divisions in the country offering International Baccalaureate education from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade, our collaborative approach to learning has produced remarkable results across all core subject areas.
Outstanding Achievement Highlights:
Reading: 92% pass rate - #1 in Virginia (Fourth consecutive year leading the state)
Mathematics: 89% pass rate - #2 in Virginia
Science: 88% pass rate - #1 in Virginia (Second consecutive year at #1)
History: 90% pass rate - #1 in Virginia (Second consecutive year at #1)
"These results reflect the extraordinary dedication of our entire FCCPS community," said Superintendent Terry Dade. "Our IB learners have once again shown what's possible when we put student needs first and embody the IB learner profile in action."
This achievement represents the collective efforts of our entire school community. Our teachers, support staff, administrators, students, and families have worked together to create learning environments where every IB learner can thrive. These results reflect the strong academic foundation built across all four programmes - from the inquiry-based learning in our Primary Years and Middle Years Programme through the rigorous academics of our Diploma Programme and the career-focused pathway in our Career-related Programme.
"What makes me most proud is that this isn't about any single school or program—it's about our unified commitment to putting student needs first," added Dr. Dade. "Every educator in our division contributed to these outcomes through unsurpassed collaboration, and our IB learners are truly demonstrating what it means to be inquirers, thinkers, and principled young people."
The Virginia School Quality Profiles page now reflects these updated 2024-25 SOL Annual Pass Rate data, showcasing FCCPS's continued leadership in academic excellence across the Commonwealth.
Our success in reading, where we've maintained the #1 position for four consecutive years, demonstrates the consistency and effectiveness of our collaborative approach to literacy instruction. This sustained excellence reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and our belief that working together produces better outcomes than any individual effort.
